House Democrats hide from a meeting called to expose their own crookedness. Lie as to their whereabouts. When caught on camera, retaliate by locking Republicans out of the hearing room.

Government Oversight & Reform Committee Chairman Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-NY) is taking aggressive measures to stop an investigation into suspicious mortgage deals issued by Countrywide Financial to Senators Chris Dodd and Kent Conrad. The Rep. Darrell Issa of New York, a Republican on the committee, vowed to force a committee vote and subpoena more documents in its investigation of Countrywide Financial, the failed mortgage behemoth.

Unfortunately, Towns and the committee's other Democrats had other designs. Rather than letting the vote occur, which would have disgraced two of their fellow Democratic congressmen, they hid in a back room, falsely claiming to the rest of the committee that they were in another committee meeting and could not make it to the vote. The vote was thus postponed because of the insufficient number of members present.

The Republicans, having anticipated this move, set up a hidden video camera outside the committee room. The Democrats were caught on camera exiting out a side door, in an attempt to keep up the appearance that they were at another meeting. The video was put on YouTube.
In retaliation, the committee Democrats had the locks changed so as to keep the Republicans out of the hearing room.

D.A.G. Says: This is pathetic. We have always known that politicians are, more often than not, squabbling children rather than leaders. In this particular case the Republicans are 100% in the right. The committee Democrats first abandoned their duty in order to protect one of their own, then barred fellow Congressmen from their own hearing room in retaliation for exposing their corruption. This is the type of corruption and sloth that got the Democrats ousted in 1994. Are they trying to repeat those events?

We remind all that we remain 100% nonpartisan.
