No stories today. But lots of goodies coming up this week.

Hey all. Rest assured the government isn’t getting any smarter. We’re taking the day off from posting to work on new features and finally launch the archives. We want to have plenty of material before we launch that feature. We’ll also have a better sharing and subscription widget available soon.

Enjoy the Sunday and take a break from thinking about government buffoonery. It’s good for you.

The meaning of dumbassitude.

The meaning of dumbassitude.

Dumbassitude /d^m.as.ə.tud/

Dumbassitude isn’t simply a word for stupidity. We already have that word. It’s called “stupidity”. Dumbassitude is a holistic, all-encompassing word used to describe the actions of an individual, corporation, or government. Dumbassitude suggests, logically enough, the deeds of a dumbass.

Dumbassitude is part stupidity. That which has dumbassitude does not exhibit cogent thought or any form of functional sapience. Those who act without thinking are dumbasses.

Dumbassitude is part selfishness. That which has dumbassitude has no social intelligence. Those who exhibit no concern for their society but only their own child-like short-term needs are dumbasses.

Dumbassitude is part hysteria. That which has dumbassitude substitutes rational thought for emotions, panic, and impulses. Those who act without thinking or get whipped into a frenzy by moral panics and folk devils are dumbasses.

Dumbassitude is part laziness. That which has dumbassitude abhors honest work and loves sloth. Those who allow their country to crumble, their lives to waste, and their future to disappear out of aversion to effort and those who fear innovation and creativity are dumbasses.

This treatise should hopefully give you some insight into what we do here. D.A.G. is not just about stupidity. It’s about every type of enormity that stems from dumbassitude. So any time you see something that exemplifies one or more of those traits, you’re probably seeing dumbassitude and you should send it in to us.

Wisconsin lawmaker arrested for DUI for third time in under a year. Here’s the video of the first time.

Here is a video of Wisconsin Rep Jeffrey Wood getting arrested for DUI. It’s not the most recent but its from under a year ago. Also, note how nice the cop is. There should be more like him.

Here is some rather lame footage of the most recent arrest.

D.A.G. has categories now! Stupidity surfing just got easier.

DumbassGovernment.com has introduced new categories for our posts. Now you can go straight to the types of government stupidity that you find most interesting. Here is a list of the categories we have. If there is a category you feel belongs in here that you don’t see, let us know.

To find a category, use the top menu and click “Articles” to reveal a list.

Anti-American: This covers any actions by government that benefit non-Americans at the expense of Americans. Is it amnesty for illegals? Foreign aid to some country in a time when our own people are unemployed and homeless? Foreign policy at whose heart is the interest of another nation, not us? All of these things are anti-American.

Anti-Liberty: Liberty is the freedom to do anything that does not harm or take from the rights of others. Anti-liberty government actions are those which arbitrarily restrict our liberty for no good reason. Anti-pot, anti-prostitution, anti-gun laws are anti-liberty.

Bureaucratic Buffoonery: Any time bureaucrats exhibit a stunning lack of understanding of the way the world actually works and exhibit their ivory-tower outlooks, any time some government functionary ignores the will of the people and clear signs of what is right in the name of protocol and rules, this is  bureaucratic buffoonery.

Corporatism: This encompasses all actions by government that benefit large, often international, corporations at the expense of real Americans. Does the government give a bailout to a public corporation during a recession while letting the everyday man starve? Does the government create a law that restricts freedom of the individual so that the corporation can increase its profits? Does the government subsidize a huge industry keeping harmful businesses alive long after they should have vanished? This is corporatism.

Corruption: We all know this one. Any time a politician or bureaucrat violates the law or the rules of their job for personal gain or the gain of a close friend or constituent, this is corruption. Bribery, extortion, cronyism – these are the avatars of corruption.

Incompetence: This is generic, otherwise uncategorized stupidity. Any time someone who works for the government shows behavior completely unfit to be paid for by us taxpayers, any time someone working for the government is lazy or stupid, this is incompetence.

Orwellian: We are watching you! Orwellian actions are those which seek to manipulate the minds of the people, or to spy on them. This is a tribute to George Orwell who wrote 1984, which we hope you have read. Is the government censoring books? Placing cameras everywhere? Creating new definitions for old words? These are Orwellian actions.

Police Buffoonery: We expect the police to be paragons of virtue and honesty. After all, they are given a great degree of power and authority. When they kill another individual in self-defense, their word is accepted more readily than that of the average person. They have the authority to send people to jail and to wield better weapons than civilians. Therefore, it’s completely unacceptable with a law enforcement officer displays anything other than scrupulously honest behavior. When police are unnecessarily violent, corrupt, bigoted, or inept, it is police buffoonery.

Political Correctness: P.C. is Orwellian’s transvestite cousin. Political Correctness is a form of mind control and social engineering which seeks to directly oppose Darwinism. Groups that are weak and vulnerable are specifically protected at the expense of groups that are strong. In the politically correct world, a self-disciplined straight white male is the Antichrist. As such they are usually the victims of political correctness.

Pro-Criminal: Any action by government that benefits criminals at the expense of law-abiding citizens is pro-criminal. When a criminal gets let off the hook while the victim is punished, or when a criminal successfully sues the police for arresting them, this is pro-criminal.

Waste of Money: This is pretty self-explanatory. Any time the government wastes millions or billions or even trillions of your tax dollars upon frivolous, deleterious, or outright evil programs, it falls into this category. Pork barrel projects are the epitome of a waste of money. Whether you believe the government ought to be very small or fairly pervasive, everyone with a brain will agree that government should be efficient and our tax dollars should be squeezed for every last cent of their worth.

UPDATE: Officer who beat up 15 year old boy is in jail for rape.

New Update

Original D.A.G. Coverage

  • A Dolton, IL cop – Christopher Lloyd, 38 – caught on camera breaking the nose of a 15-year-old brain-damaged student has been charged with rape.
  • According to Lake County, IN court documents, he threatened her with a knife then held a pillow over the woman’s face while raping her.
  • Lloyd has a less than flawless history including the shooting of a man on a dubious claim of “self defense” – the victim was the new husband of his ex-wife and was shot 24 times.
  • Lloyd has been terminated from his job.

D.A.G. Says: Sucks for this guy if he goes to jail. I don’t think the inmates will be too nice to him.

Thanks Mary Lou!

The hype-free scoop on Michelle Obama’s attendants

There’s been a lot of ruckus online about the supposedly unprecedented entourage that Michelle Obama has enlisted for herself. We’ve researched this and shown the following list of staff to be accurate, however not unprecedented. Laura Bush had 16 staff members with the word “First Lady” in their job title. So, take this with a grain of salt. It’s good to know where your money is going, and definitely a large number of these positions are highly unnecessary in a time when our country should be cutting expenses. Does it qualify as dumbass government? Maybe, but we’re not going to join the hype.

Thanks Milena!
